Yesterday Google announced they completed Caffeine. Basically it’s their new search engine that is supposed to be 50% faster and 50% more relevant… I wonder how all these fake landing pages will do and all you SEO boys will deal with this. I’m sure we’ll see some stupid new Google SEO ebook and how to master it soon enough.

Facebook Launches New Analytics for “Like” Data
by Mike Guindon on Jun.08, 2010, under Tools

I think this is huge for demographic research. Here’s a snip of what it is:
“Having good analytics is a key to successfully growing a business. To provide you with even better metrics for your Facebook applications, websites, and Pages, we recently launched an improved Insights dashboard.
The new Insights dashboard is your single source for all your Facebook analytics needs for:
- Websites: Fully-integrated sites and those that use social plugins, or add a non-integrated domain in one easy step
- Applications: Including canvas, mobile, device, and desktop applications
- Facebook Pages: Including Pages created on Facebook.com and those that are part of the Open Graph protocol
For example, you can now view analytics around specific stories liked on your website, or how many users commented on posts made on your Page (note that this is anonymized aggregate data and does not include personally identifiable information). From there, you will have a better idea of what your audience finds most interesting and capitalize on that content.”

Mr. Green’s Plenty of Fish ad uploader
by Mike Guindon on Mar.15, 2010, under Tools

First off I am in no way associated or being compensated for this product, nor do I “officially” endorse it. Just passing it along as it looks like a cool tool to help with the creation of ads for advertising on Plenty of Fish. Here are the bullet points taken directly from his website:
- Create 1000’s of ads in minutes. – Now you can work on your landing pages while the ad uploader is working in the background.
- Split test ad copies and images. - Since Plenty of Fish is based on CPM pricing, getting the right ad copy and image combination is key to keep CTRs up.
- Split test demographics. – It takes a lot of time to test different demographics when manually uploading ads. With Mr Green’s POF ad uploader, you can quickly test a range of demographics so you can easily find that perfect setting to get cheap clicks.
- Export/Import CSV files. - You can now save any campaigns you have previously run, and easily upload them when you wish.
- Subid generator. - Easily track which of your creatives are converting.
- No long loading times for ads to be generated – You don’t need to keep your browser open for long periods of time in order for ads to be loaded onto POF. It will take maximum 3 minutes.
- Blow competition out of the water! - Competition is was tough on POF. Now you can upload and test ads 100’s of times faster than your competitors.

Webtrends Launches Analytics for Facebook Marketers
by Mike Guindon on Feb.26, 2010, under Tools
Quoted from http://mashable.com/2010/02/25/webtrends-facebook-analytics/ If you use Facebook for Adverts….I can see where this would be BA!
“Webtrends, a company that offers marketers detailed web analytics, has rolled out new measurement capabilities for Facebook, including the ability to view Facebook data alongside data for other channels.
Tools like this are useful because Facebook’s own platform for this, Facebook Insights, runs three days behind, doesn’t measure custom tabs or apps, and doesn’t integrate with analytics for other digital marketing channels.
The tools work inside Facebook (
) to provide detailed analytics data about applications, custom tabs, brand pages, contests and advertisements, among other things. This wasn’t easy to achieve because most of Facebook (Fan Pages included) doesn’t allow JavaScript, but Webtrends developed a custom API to get around that. Third-party applications built on the Facebook platform are easier because JavaScript is permitted.
The special features here are the ones related to comparing data between Facebook and other digital channels. For example, you can see how much traffic is being driven to your Facebook Fan Pages by Twitter (
) updates, or you can overlay Facebook Fan Page activity with that on corporate blog posts.”

uTorrent 2.0 Released!
by Mike Guindon on Feb.05, 2010, under News
If your a crazy Bit Torrent user like myself then this comes as great news especially since this release includes uTP.
“uTP is a new and improved implementation of the BitTorrent protocol which is designed to be more network friendly than its predecessor. The current implementation often causes interference with other applications. This is one of the main reasons why ISPs try to slow it down, or even stop it altogether. uTP aims to solve this problem.”

IPAD on Mad TV

Comments Off :Apple, IPAD, Mad TV more...IPAD=IPOD Touch for Blind People
by Mike Guindon on Jan.27, 2010, under News

Apples new IPAD was shown today. Honestly it looks like an IPOD Touch for the blind….. All I can say is I’m not impressed. It has all the same technology as other “ebook” readers and netbooks/tablets. The only thing I see that is a tad bit different is the inclusion of the simm card for 3G….but we all know how bad AT&T’s 3G network is because of IPhones so you can only imagine how much worse it would get with these on it. Also, I REALLY DOUBT the 10 hour battery life, maybe on standby…. Read about it here if you want too….

One of the Best Quotes Ever
by Mike Guindon on Jan.25, 2010, under General

“The increase in laws that make it difficult to run an open network, especially rules about content.” You suddenly become liable for anything that gets downloaded, whether it’s legal or not,” she said. “If you said to a municipality, if you build a road, you have to guarantee nothing illegal happens on it — that’s what’s happening on the Internet now. So that’s the kind of regulatory disruption that’s going to have some long-term consequences.”
This was said by Mitchell Baker who is the leader of the Mozilla Project at the DLD conference in Munich, Germany. Now only if the Government and some Corporations (who will remain nameless but you know who you are dicks….) would see it the same way. You can read about it here:

Google Bans White Teeth and Weight Loss
by Mike Guindon on Nov.23, 2009, under General
So I came across this post from TheBigMoney and it talks about how Google is changing its strategies and will now be banning the Advertisers that advertise “scammy” products/rebills instead of just pulling the ads themselves. This is actually old news but what was funny is how this person is talking about how bad those types of advertisements are and actually calls out Pulse360 and Adblade, yet at the bottom of their webpage I found this on EVERY SINGLE PAGE THEY HAVE……
I don’t know about you but I find that HILARIOUS and very ironic/hypocritical so I had to point it out. I guess he doesn’t view his post after it gets posted…. Nice.
“You stay classy San Diego!”
